It’s Cold Outside

It is cold.  And I’ve been busy.  The show at The Phat House wound up getting cancelled because their visual artist couldn’t make it.  But the girl that set it up wound up booking me for a show at Carr’s Corner in Spokane instead and I had a blast!  And I got PAID (not that it’s important, just that it makes me a musician)!  I met Dillon and Aaron from Wayward Too and I think most of the guys from Weary Traveler.  Two local bands that you all can check out on Reverbnation.com!  I think they’re all awesome guys personally.  Also, Chelsey Heidenreich!  She is a super talented singer/songwriter in the area!  The following weekend I played some tunes at a Thanksgiving party in Spokane.  And I got FED (not that it’s important, just that it was Thanksgiving dinner with little kids)!  I also did another photo shoot with Andrew Taylor!  I’ll keep posting photos from that; the cover photo is one from it.  It was so cold and so dark but the photos are definitely getting more cool.

Other than that I’ve managed to keep my job at the boutique, have my car fixed, get through some storage and do some organizing, and spend some time with family and friends!  It’s a goal of mine to get posting on here more again but I do post almost every day on both my twitter: @taraskye22 and my instagram: @taraskye if you’d like to see more of me! :)

I cannot wait to see what December brings.  I will be learning lots of Christmas songs and writing my Christmas cards… And drawing my Christmas tree this year haha!  And I will be sure to post more.  And inform you all of any upcoming shows.  Also, if you like me on Facebook you can be notified via Reverbnation.com of any show dates.  I’m good at updating that.

P.S. The Facebook link will open in another window ;)

God Bless and Happy Holidays!!!  Hope you all had a great Thanks-Hanukkah (my 11 year old brother says there is only one every 70,000 years or something so we are all very loved)!  <3

More Soon!

It’s October

It’s October and I have been SO busy doing what I love that I couldn’t be happier.

I’ve been working 2 days a week doing styling and merchandising… so basically playing dress up, I’ve gotten a good start on recording my piano and demo vocals to start production all over on about 14 songs.  I had my friend Shaun Moore come in and do some guitar on one song and he is just amazing, he added so much to it I can’t even wait to hear what everything is going to sound like when we put together the rest of our ideas.

I’ve still got a couple of collaborations going on.  I’ve got a girl friend who’s in high school that I’ve been working on a couple of songs with, we do a pretty adorable duet together.  And I found a really great producer around here through mutual friends who makes some awesome beats that I’ve started working with a bit so you’ll hear some of that music soon too.  I’ve also started learning and writing on guitar a bit just so that I can be more of a gypsy. :P  There are more people I’ll be working with also once I’m all straight and organized from music school back east.

About a week ago I got to be Eve in my friend’s music video, I’ll make sure to get a link to post once it’s finished for you all so that you can check him out.  I also got to do a photo-shoot with some of girls from the boutique I work at for their new Facebook page!  I couldn’t find a link but it’s called Kandy’s Boutique & Tanning and my cover shot is from the shoot!

As of today, I have a show booked for November 1st!  It’s at The Phat House for First Friday in Spokane!  I could not be more excited.  So mark your calendars for me!  I’ll let you all know more details as I do and obviously it will be up on my Reverbnation and my Facebook page.   My new Facebook page address, after my merge can be found at: http://www.Facebook.com/Ms.TaraSkye.

Also, I feel like I should mention, I deleted most of the comments from before because I couldn’t be 100% what was spam or not.  Sorry!  I know some of you had real questions.  Lame people suck.  I can tell you from what I skimmed that the layouts I use are all free through WordPress?

Anyway!  I’ve got to get back to work!  I hope you all are doing just fine!  Keep on shining!

Love and God Bless,

First Radio Play! Yay!

For those of you who don’t know, I made “Oh Darlin’” a free download from reverbnation a couple of days ago!  It was played on local radio for the first time on Wednesday and plays again tonight on 88.5FM in Sandpoint, ID around 9 or 9:30PM.  You can also catch it streaming at KRFY.org.  It feels SO great!

I also finally made the switch to running just one Facebook page so I no longer have to post everything I’m doing 5 different times.

I mean think about it, I was posting updates twice on Facebook, once on twitter, and once on here.  If I decided to take an Instagram photo for evidence that’s like 6 different times that I’m telling people about the same thing.  Not to mention I’m keeping up a Reverb site.  It was just too much and too time consuming.  BUT if you’re an old friend and want to keep in touch, or a new friend and want to get in touch, I encourage you to shoot me an e-mail (even if it’s just with you’re number so we can run and get coffee or something) at TaraSkye22@icloud.com.  I promise you this is more-so an attempt to be closer to you than to get rid of you via Facebook :)

More soon!!

Love and blessings!

Tara

Finally, Updates

I’ve been off on my own trying to enjoy the last of summer!  Sorry y’all!  Lots of exciting stuff has happened.

I’ve mostly been focusing on creating the sound I want rather than just writing whatever sounds cool.  After about ten playlists and a million hours of music I’ve finally narrowed down a covers list that is pretty well rounded for the live sound I want.  I got out all of the CD’s I used to sing to when I was 12 years old… it was awesome.  Think: Tina Turner, Wanda Jackson, Freda Payne, and The Shirelles.  Plus I added some ZZ Ward, Adele, Miranda Lambert, Kacey Musgraves, Etta James, Elvis, Sam Cooke, and Doris Day.  Needless to say I’ve got my work cut out, but I’m excited!

I’ve been working on playing guitar a bit every day but I’m still in the process of finding and purchasing the right one to play with live…  Also, I have a couple of talented friends who I’m working on collaborating with for your entertainment!  And I’ve been writing and playing through my material on piano every day.  So yeah, I’m still here! haha!

I have kind of a cool opportunity to play a Live Music Showcase in Kansas City for Atlantic Reps which I’m still trying to iron out the details of but even if it doesn’t work out I have a feeling I may be headed south sooner than later anyway.

I also am working on starting up a soundcloud so that people can start mixing my work in to dub and other stuff.

So, Yeah!  I have a lot of work to do but I miss you all and I’m still here and working harder than ever!  I’m trying to convince my beatboxing boyfriend to do a video with me but we don’t have clean bedrooms. :P  I’ll start working on that too haha!

I Love You Guys!

Best,

Tara Skye

Monty Python: The Meaning Of Life (1983)

For anyone who ever wonders about life and the universe and everything… I found a free streaming link to this awesome movie.  I should say as a disclaimer: it has a lot of boobs in it.  I don’t think there is anything wrong with that but I was also sent to the principles office for drawing boobs instead of sea-shells on my mermaids when I was 6.

I’ll update you all on what I’ve been up to soon! :)

Koan: Inch Time Foot Gem

A lord asked Takuan, a Zen Teacher, to suggest how he might pass the time. He felt his days very long attending his office and sitting stiffly to receive the homage of others.

Takuan wrote eight Chinese characters and gave them to the man:

Not twice this day

Inch time foot gem.

This day will not come again.

Each minute is worth a priceless gem.

My sister once told me that there comes a time when you realize the worth of your time and you quit wasting it.  I feel like I just recently discovered what she meant and this sums it up pretty well…

There is so much in this moment!  Don’t miss it trying to please others!  It doesn’t matter where you go in life but it does matter what you do while you’re here.  Trying to make everyone happy only drains you and disappoints them.  Do what you love.  Find what you love.  Surround yourself so much with what you love that none of your time feels wasted but full of accomplishment and the conquering of life-long goals. <3

Where Have I Been!?

I feel like it’s been far too long!  I finally got through a heap of comments, all good things, and lots of you had questions about starting blogs and how to get in touch with me for suggestions and questions!

I’ll work on getting my e-mail up on the sidebar somewhere but for now I enabled the contact form on this post so you should be able to send questions, feedback, and suggestions through there!  I’ll try to make sure I get back to everyone who’s already commented too but I’m sure it’ll be faster if you go through there! :)

Other than that!  I finally got some photos in that I just posted!  If you check out my Facebook Fan Page, Reverbnation Page, and/or my Instagram you can view some there for now!  I’ll post some more later too!

I ALSO posted a new song that you can find on Reverbnation!  It’s called Dreamin’!

Last Saturday I went to see the The Avett Brothers, practically in my backyard, with one of my best girl-friends from high school!  We had a blast chatting and catching up and singing and swaying.

The next day the guys and I brought the songwriting circle to Spokane again, it was also a blast!  The show we’re playing this Saturday has been all over the Inlander and the radio, not to mention it’s for a great cause, I highly recommend that anyone in the Spokane area drops by.  We’ll be raising money for a little girl named Kylie who’s father passed away this past winter.

Other than that I’ve just been practicing, and writing, and learning a little guitar, and still toying with the idea of getting a tour-able band together… :)

I’ve also been hanging out with my little brother a lot.  He softens my heart.  I love that little bug.

I go in to record today and I’ve had a couple of people offer to take a shot at mixing the stems to make them more radio friendly, (because someone wants to play me on the radio :D ), so I’m going to take in my G-drive to grab those and work on the build of The Sky is Still Up!

More from me soon!  Much Love!

God Bless!
